Roy Petley Art for Sale
Roy Petley (b.1950) - Norfolk Impressionism
Roy Petley is a Norfolk born painter. He attended Brighton School of Art 1967-68. After his time at Brighton he spent a year travelling Europe where he studied the art in major museums and galleries which improved his draughtsmanship to a point that enabled to sketch spontaneously.
Petley came to the public’s attention during the late 1980’s when he was exhibiting on the railings in Hyde Park. His paintings which are totally representational have been shown in Madrid, Dublin and in London at the Messum Gallery. The eponymous Petley Fine Art opened in London’s Mayfair in October 2003 and is co-owned by Roy Petley who has introduced a number of established painters to the gallery who share the same fine art training and focus on traditional techniques of painting and drawing. Petley Fine Art also launched its second gallery in Monte Carlo in Spring 2004.
Roy Petley’s paintings are in the collections of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duchess of Kent, the Sultan of Brunei, Frederick Forsyth, Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin, Harvard University, Durban Museum, South Africa and the Ulster Museum, Belfast.
