This pretty boat scene was titled 'The Yacht Club, Dartmouth Harbour'. With further research, we feel this is Looe in the 1950’s with the Sardine factory on the left-hand side. We have checked with a Dartmouth Skipper and a Looe Skipper and they are in agreement with us. A quick oil outline painting of Looe Island (St Georges) Verso tipped us off.
A wonderful breath of fresh air with this mid-century oil on board, painted by Irish artist Charles Harvey. The sailing community will love this and we feel it has an appealing feel, with bright seaside colours and the “naïve style” of the little tourists on the quay!
In a light modern frame and ready to hang.
