A lovely bright Gouache by Rowland Suddaby of a floral still life, set in a traditional blue and white jug. A mid century composition with the fruit bowl, the book and vibrant background painting. Good detail and colours throughout.
Provenance: From the artists family.
Rowland Suddaby (1912–1972), a British artist from Yorkshire, studied at Sheffield College of Art. Influenced by East Anglia's landscapes, he created vibrant watercolours and still lifes. His works, often compared to Christopher Wood's, reflect spontaneity and atmospheric depth. Suddaby exhibited widely, co-founded Colchester Art Society, and remains celebrated for his evocative compositions.
